My first day off was Tuesday and a group of us were able to
get together finally for a hike. We hiked up to Mallard Lake, which was about 6
miles there and back. The snow was deep and wet in some parts, which made it
seem longer and more strenuous. Up in the woods the snow was beautiful. We were
the only people that had been up there so far this season, so all the snow was
perfectly untouched. The weather was great, and I even managed to get my first
sunburn even after wearing sunblock and a hat.
After the hike we walked around
the old faithful area to check out all of the thermal features .The colors of
some of the features were amazing. We were able to watch old faithful go off,
as well as some of the other smaller geysers.
